Lantmännen BioAgri participated on the Euroseeds Congress 2024 in Copenhagen

In October, Lantmännen BioAgri participated at the annual congress Euroseeds, this year at the venue of Tivoli Congress Center in Copenhagen. BioAgri was there to take part in conversations regarding trends and challenges within seed treatment, and to promote the ThermoSeed® technology.

“Different corners of the globe and even different countries within Europe have very different seed production”, says Christian Thaning, head of R&D at Lantmännen BioAgri, and continues “We need to understand the markets and local seed production conditions if we want to do business, so visiting Euroseeds is a good opportunity for us to start conversations with potential partners”.

Most European seed companies have heard about the ThermoSeed technology. It has been on the market in the Nordics for more than 15 years and is broadly adopted primarily in Sweden and Norway. During the last five years, new customers have joined with installations in France, Switzerland and Finland – and hopefully there are more to come within the next few years.

Frida Dalemar, Managing Director at Lantmännen BioAgri since earlier this year, visited the congress for the first time and she is happy with the event. “We had several highly relevant discussions. Seed companies are facing a potential future where the availability of synthetic chemicals for seed treatment is limited and they of course want to orientate themselves about alternatives”, she says.

But BioAgri is not only active in the steam treatment business. The company has a more than 20 years long history of developing biofungicides used as seed treatment products and is the re-seller of these products in the countries around the Baltic Sea. Another part of the business is evaluation of biostimulants, a growing product group within crop production.

One topic that was frequently addressed during the congress was how steam treatment and biological products could be used in future, either separately or combined – to achieve good results in the field. A highly interesting question that Lantmännen BioAgri look forward to discussing more.
